Sitting on one of the most extraordinary wooded lots in the Hollywood Hills, this sprawling estate spans across multiple structures and a large pool deck. The original rustic-style house, built in 1954, provided architects Tichenor & Thorp with an abundance of character to weave into the new design.
At over 6,000 square feet, the home is expansive, but feels intimate in how it sits organically on the lush grounds. An extensive remodel of the property includes a complete renovation of interior spaces and layouts to fit the needs of the new owners while respecting the existing structure. The project also includes comprehensive site improvements on the 1.15-acre lot with new landscaping, hardscaping, and retaining walls.
The scope required a great deal of technical depth, from complex waterproofing to the addition of a vegetative roof deck on top of the garage. Much of the existing stone work and natural materials were preserved in the process of creating new interior layouts for the kitchen and master suites - a necessary process to maintain and amplify the original character.
This project is currently under construction and is expected to be completed in the Summer of 2023.
